About the Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home

At the Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home, our mission is to provide quality programs and services for children and families in the El Paso, Texas region who are in need of care and guidance in achieving healthy life skills, goals and objectives. For more than 60 years, our 501(c)(3) nonprofit has served children and families who are experiencing difficulty in their lives – for whatever reason – by providing a positive environment and a full range of services, including:

Residential care: As the only Children’s Home in El Paso, we provide a nurturing, home-like atmosphere with cottages for boys and girls ages 5 to 18. Children who live at the Home are cared for by trained child care workers (known as “cottage parents”) and are provided access to a recreational and fitness center, a library, tutoring and counseling. They attend public schools while staying at the Home. Meals are prepared by kitchen staff. In addition, we provide food stipends through our Emergency Food Assistance Program and clothing stipends through our Emergency Clothing Assistance Program. We aim to fully reunite children with families whenever possible, and our caseworkers provide wraparound services to help each family achieve their goals.

Foster care: Individualized care for infants, toddlers, and children is provided in the homes of couples or individuals who are licensed and supervised by Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home. Parents or conservators remain legally responsible for children while they are in foster care and visit regularly with children until they are reunited when possible.

Adventure program: We offer a full range of adventure-based activities at the main campus and at Camp Leavell in Three Rivers, New Mexico. The program gives youth challenging and confidence-boosting experiences as they backpack, rock climb, and participate in a challenge course in a protected and well-supervised environment.

Adoption placement and referrals: Our experienced, caring staff work closely with birth parents who are unable or unwilling to provide a stable home environment. Adoptive families are carefully evaluated by staff and prepared to receive children when the need arises. As with all of our programs, our adoption program is licensed and monitored by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

Unplanned pregnancy counseling services: We provide information and referral services to those who have faced complicated and complex decisions related to unplanned pregnancies. Our goal is to present options, alternatives and factual information without bias.  Counselors remain professional and sensitive to the unique nature of the personal, physical, and emotional pain associated with such circumstances. Should a client choose adoption or foster care as an option, as a licensed Child Placing Agency, we are able to arrange placement for the child.

Aftercare services: Once a child is released from care, after-care services and support are available through the Home upon request. This includes food assistance, help with post-high school goals, job placement assistance, referral services and much more.

College assistance: Many children from the Home graduate with excellent grades and test scores, as well as a passion for their futures, but do not have the support system they need to get through college. In 2018, the Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home started a residential college program for our clients who apply and have post-high school education goals. In 2019, this grew into a separate nonprofit, The MacGuire Center, thanks to the leadership and passion of Betty MacGuire, a prolific philanthropist and the daughter of Lee and Beulah Moor.
